Affordable Style, Art, My Style -

I am passionate about modern art. I try to support independent artist whenever possible. But these days my budget is a little tight, so I satisfy my art desire by attending local art shows and museums. Last Saturday I  met artist Sandy Meyer at the Village Art Studios in Tequesta, Florida. She had a great way of exposing he are to the financially challenged. She offered hand painted, signed postcards for only $5.00. Yes, original art work for $5.00 - score! I know that it is a common practice for artist to sell prints of their work as post cards,...

One of my nieces will be entering middle school this year. In an effort to sent her back to school in style, she and I worked on a few projects  that will make her stand out - in a good way. [caption id="attachment_909" align="aligncenter" width="425" caption="Personalized Composition Book"][/caption] Staples had a sale on composition books - they were 10 cents each - and although they had some cool designs, we thought that we would kick things up a notch by creating a personalized note book. I love going to the zoo. It's a constant source of inspiration. This pillow was inspired by one of my many trips - it features a mom and baby deer. Check out the look on the moms face - she seems so proud. It's the same look I get to when I see my son's report card. Here is a a copy of the image before I printed it to the fabric. [caption id="attachment_719" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="The original Image"][/caption] The image was done in Adobe Illustrator. If you are familiar with Illustrator, you may recognise the grass, the flower that...

Sitting on my Favorite chair. Look at these precious pups, don't they look like they are saying "I am ready for my close up"? I was flipping through my illustration stash - looking for some inspiration to create an house warming gift for a friend. I came across these dogs that I had 'sitting' around for ages. I don't remember what my inspiration was for drawing these dogs - I think I did them because they were cute, or maybe, I did them as coloring pages for a niece or nephew. Anyway, my friend loves dogs more than she likes...
