Flower Pot/Plant Pot Make Over Mother's day is fast approaching (May 10th, 2015) and instead of heading to the mall to purchase gifts for all my mommy friends, I opted to create handcrafted gifts.  And since I am obsessed with all thing garden, I decided to personalize a few inexpensive clay plant pots. You can pick up flower pots from IKEA for as low as .45 cents. Although I am sure you have a few clay pots lying around - so no shopping necessary:) BTW, these would make a great Birthday, Father's day or Just because gift as well. [caption...

I am told that moving is one of the most stressful events in a person’s life. This may be true for others, but not for me. I see moving as a way to reboot my life. It’s a time to clear out the cobwebs and create fresh memories. Since I am now an empty nester, I no longer needed all the space I had when I was raising my family – I needed a smaller, more manageable space. I had 1 requirement; there should be adequate room for my ever-growing plant collection. I found the perfect place, made an offer,...

I am a gardening enthusiast - some may say that I am a fanatic - I have crammed so many plants on my tiny balcony, the critters are starting to call it home. One of my passions is doing silk ribbon embroidery. It's quick, it's easy, it's beautiful, it's instant gratification - its also very delicate. I mention this because I have 2 little girls under the age of 4 and they are fascinated with the lifelike 3 dimensional quality of silk ribbon embroidery. I loved making silk ribbon embroidered pillows, but the little ones would destroy them as soon as I made them. I started putting them on the wall instead. I wanted to add some color to my patio garden so I went to my favorite nursery to pick up some inexpensive foliage. The Alcea Rosea Chaters Double Yellow immediately caught my eyes. [caption id="attachment_1194" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Alcea rosea"][/caption] I hope that I can keep this plant alive - at least until the end of summer. They are inexpensive, so if it falls victim to my brown thumb, I will just pick up another. Maybe next time I will get the pink.
