Is it me or is this handmade movement catching on? There was a time when my friends needed to spruce up their homes, they would head to the closest decor department and get something off the rack. Recently, I have been getting requests form them for unusual items to enhance their home decor. I decided to use the "teach a man to fish" approach and invited a few friends over to learn the process. I live on the beach in South FL. so shells are in abundance.   I grabbed some air plants from a tree in my back yard - another plentiful material...

My local Ace Hardware store was having a sale on the wooden bar stools pictured below. I needed  2 stools for my kitchen, but I have been holding out for something ultra modern. The $13.00 price tag was appealing so I decided to make the purchase. Since the stools did not match my decor, I decided to modify them. I sprayed painted them cobalt blue (my favorite color). I used Rust-Oleum 11 Oz. Gloss Metallic Cobalt Blue Rust Preventive Aerosol Paint to get a high gloss finish. I had some botanical images left over from another project so I decoupaged...
