[caption id="attachment_205" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Silk Ribbon Sampler"][/caption] A few of my friends has jumped  on the DIY/handmade/indi. bandwagon. I have been teaching them a few of my tricks. Last week's lesson was how to do silk ribbon embroidery. I created the project above to include a variety of silk ribbon stitches. Frankly, I crammed in as much stitch variation  as I could:) - We did lazy daises, french knots, colonial Knots, stem stitch, roses, carnations - we even played with polymer clay (for the vase). Affordable Style, beading, DIY Tutorials, mothers day -

Every year I try to create something special for the moms in my life. This years I made wine glass and bottle charms. [caption id="attachment_186" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Wine glass charms"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_190" align="alignnone" width="297" caption="Twisted"][/caption] These Wine glass charms are made by bending 14 gauge in to a 'S' shape with loop at  ends. The first step was a bit tricky because unlike most people, I do not sketch my patterns on paper, I go strait to the computer. For...

When I was in middle school (primary school) my art teacher would take us on nature walks and we would use things found in nature in our art projects. I guess she left a lasting impression, because I still take nature and my projects are still inspired by tings found in nature. These days, I take along my cell phone so that I can capture interesting images. The following is the 'view from my cell phone' [caption id="attachment_131" align="alignnone" width="420" caption="Growing in the wild"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_135" align="alignnone" width="420" caption="Hanging from a plam tree"][/caption] I wonder what was going on here,...

What would you do with and abundance of air plants and a burnt out light bulb? Here is what I did. [caption id="attachment_80" align="alignnone" width="410" caption="Light bulb air plant topiary"][/caption] I removed the top as well as the internal portions of the light bulb - (Click here for how to) - blinged it up a bit, etched some daises on the top portion and added some crushed shells and pebbles. I live on the beach in South FL. so shells are in abundance.   I grabbed some air plants from a tree in my back yard - another plentiful material...
