He's sleeping, lets craft

I was blog hopping and I hopped over to "Just Lu's" blog where she posted a beautiful embroidery project. I suddenly remembered that I had a quilt that my mom and I did for my son when he was a baby (15 years ago). I sketched my son while he was sleeping - that was the only time he was still - Then I... well take a look at the images. [caption id="attachment_226" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Baby Matthew"][/caption] I out lined the image using stem stitch. The eye lashes was done using satin stitch. The hair was the most fun, it was all french and colonial knots. My mom and I took turns working on it. [caption id="attachment_232" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Sleeping like a baby"][/caption] My mom turned the completed embroidery project into a quilt. [caption id="attachment_233" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="I am ready for my close up"][/caption] My son loved it - see all the stains, he slept with it every night for years. He took  it on every trip, he took it to the bathroom, he had it on the playground... I hope to give it to his son someday. xoxo Al
