Hearts and Roses Embroidery Apronology

....Plus Free download I work Full-time, I am a marketing consultant Part time, I am a parent and I am a craft project devotee. I love to embroider, I find it calming, it relaxes me, it is the perfect hobby for people in high stress jobs. Unfortunately, it can be very time consuming, therefore, sometimes it can be weeks before you complete a project. Well, I have created what I call Embroidery projects for lazy, overworked, stressed out people with minimal time to spend on a hobby. Here is my process. First I decide on the design. For this project, I modified a commercial rose and heart design that I found in the Clarance bin at Walmart for 25 cents. [caption id="attachment_733" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Roses and Heart"][/caption] I digitized the outline using Adobe illustrator and added the colors that I liked. Next, I printed the image to a piece of white cotton fabric. I then carefully cut along the outline of the image and glued it to the main project fabric with Spray And Fix. Now all I needed to do is start my embroidery project . I  used a simple outlining stitch and some silk ribbon - this process went really quickly. I decided to make an Apron. I was inspired by the magazine Apronology - Did you know that there is an entire publication dedicated to aprons? My apron was going to look like a tunic - (kinda like my school uniform in Jamaica). I would add 2 pockets, 'cause every apron needs some pockets.

[caption id="attachment_738" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Pocket #1"][/caption] The pockets had simple outlines. I used chain stitch for the heart and stem stitch for the flowers [caption id="attachment_735" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Pocket #2"][/caption] I had a great time doing the embroidery portion of this project. Putting the apron together however was a bit challenging - but that's a story for another time.
