Design and Print Custom Fabric on Demand

[caption id="attachment_413" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="My Final design"][/caption] I have been working on a few new textile designs. I create my designs with an end product in mind. Recently, I have been creating decorative throw pillows suitable for kids rooms. Once I am satisfied with a design, I make a sample print on my home printer and I use that print to create a 'mock up' of the throw pillow. If I am satisfied with the product, I will get the the fabric professionally printed at www.spoonflower.com. Last week I came across a site that allowed me to skip a few steps. After I created my design, (check it out on your left) I upload it to http://www.roomsbyyou.com where I was able to interactively customize an entire room with fabrics that I designed. Rooms by You provides the tools, services and products that allows the user to flex their imagination and build to order a room that is perfectly suited to their taste. Once you have designed your product, you can share it with your friends or order the desired product. I experimented with a few design options and finally chose the styling option below. [caption id="attachment_416" align="alignnone" width="405" caption="Looks great in an all white room"][/caption] My original design started out with a different background - but my son and resident art critic thought that the background was too busy - it need to be edited. [caption id="attachment_418" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Too much going on"][/caption] I also created another option with a a boy and my signature hilly background. He said that the background was unrealistic - "Turtles would not typically be found in such an environment." I disagree - I grew up in Jamaica - a very hilly island - and the image was inspired by a childhood memory of myself and my brother watching turtles as they emerged from their eggs and then made their way to the water.  Anyway, I will be changing the background. * side note Turtles are now virtually extinct in Jamaica - read about the conservation efforts here.
