Happy Father’s Day

I lost my dad a few years ago, but each Father’s day I honor his memory by making him a gift.

I searched the web for a copyright free tattoo, (my dad did not have a tattoo, but I thought it would add interest) I made a few adjustments and then printed the tattoo on the fabric.

Next I traced the image of the arm directly onto the fabric. I outlined it using a stem stitch embroidery – I use 3 strand of brown DMC thread for the outline.
My plan was to frame and hang this piece in my bed room, but my brother asked if he could have it – I said yes – after all, I can always make another.

What a great idea. My husband lost his father when he was a teenager. This might be a good way to help our children feel a connection to the grandfather they never knew.
